Authonomy in professional development of foreign language teachers

Abstract: The text focuses on the professional development of teachers and defines it mainly as a self-directed process. The author analyses the idea of self-directed learning in two categories: self-direction motives, and self-directed activities. The text is based on research among language teachers and shows general tendencies seen in professional development.
