E-training for supporting the disadvantaged at the labour market

Abstract: The widespread use of ICT influences the development and popularization of new forms of employment enabling work from home and increasing the chances of people in particularly difficult situation on the labor market (including the disabled, the low skilled, women upbringing children) to get the employment. Employers use modern forms of employment more often, because they allow to reduce labour costs and increase flexibility to perform professional tasks while maintaining a high level of service. The most popular are e-learning courses offering flexibility in terms of time and place. A case study of an international project ID-Women presented in the article shows that home-based work has a positive effect on the increase of activation of women in difficult situation on the labour market. Improving professional competences through e-learning creates opportunities for active participation in the lifelong learning process, while taking into account individual needs and barriers of learners.
