Abstract: The aim of this paper is to answer whether the level of formal education, as measured by the number of schooling years, influences various indicators of civic engagement such as participation in elections, activity in NGOs, volunteering, charity, and has any influence on social trust and concern about a common good. An analysis of reports released by CBOS (a Polish public opinion research center) and Klon/Jawor (an association which deals with the 3rd sector in Poland) enabled the author to conclude that civic engagement is positively related to the level of education.
